An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Packaging Manager within a leading business. The role will be key in the design and coordination of the Packaging process within the group and will work very closely with the Product Development function. This roles includes the coordination of Design brief, management of external packaging supply partners (agencies, repro etc), management of packaging type, management of the print quality and look and feel for all products.
Liaising with NPD Manager/Product Developers/Buyer and supplier at initial project kick off.
Helping with confirmation of Critical path.
Confirming number of skus with NPD Manager/Product Developer/Buyer and supplier.
Obtaining and confirming Keyline’s in pdf and ai format /packaging formats/printer specifications with supplier for each sku.
Ability to create and understand Keyline’s or direct suppliers if required.
Where necessary obtain photography brief from the product developer if the artwork requires photographs.
Supplying Keyline’s and design brief to Designers for design quotation.
Providing supplier with design quote.
Upon design quote approval, responsible for sending full design brief to the Designers.
Coordinating with Supplier, Product Developer and NPD Specification team all amends for artworks into the designer in the most cost effective way.
Attend photography shoots where required.
Coordinate the release of artworks to the printers.
Liaise with Printers on packaging substrates and capabilities.
Attend on line press approvals at Printers where required.
Manage and maintain Artwork Database.
Responsible for maintaining packaging files – Soft and Hard copy.
Responsible for issuing and approval of Barcodes.
Responsible for NPD Packaging Budget and ensuring best cost is achieved.
Responsible for management of the invoicing process through SAP ensuring the NPD budget is achieved.
Responsible for contract terms and cost agreements with design agency in conjunction with Procurement.
Responsible for work allocation to designer.
Liaise with printers and supplier in relation to Packaging Non-Conformance issues.
- Diploma level or equivalent qualification in Art & Design/Graphic Design
- Minimum 5-6 years experience in similar role ideally in retail or in the manufacturing industry
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator would be preferred
- Previous packaging and printing experience
- Project management skills
