NPD Manager

The Role:

My client is currently seeking to recruit an NPD Manager to join an innovative and thriving business. You will lead the entire NPD Function, working very closely with existing customers and also working very closely with the Commercial team to delivering new solutions for potential new customers.

This role will take responsibility for the management of New Product Development in the business through from concept to launch, developing and managing the critical path and NPD team activities.

Role Responsibilities: 

• You will work closely with the key customers in devising NPD strategy and achieving NPD targets across a number of categories
  
• Ensure that products are launched in compliance with Food Safety legislation and company QMS.,both on time and on budget
  
• Controlling the product development process from start to finish
  
• Working closely with customers and the commercial team in delivering on new product and existing product development strategy which brings a competitive advantage to the business
  
• Devising critical paths and managing them through the business
  
• Maintaining a database of information
  
• Conducting product trials, working on costings, nutritional information etc
  
• Sourcing ingredients and packaging for new product lines
  
• Keeping up to date the latest food trends and influences
  
• Influencing internal efficiencies through reformulation to achieve cost improvements
  
• Meeting launch targets on time and in an efficient manner
  
• Working cross functionally with other teams

Key Experience and Skills Required:

• 5+ years experience in NPD ideally within a chilled food environment
  
• Have a proven track record of delivering on NPD projects
• Third level Food Science qualification or equivalent
  
• Excellent communication skills
  
• Have a thorough understanding of the retail market and dealing with multiples
• Possess a good understanding of process and factory operations
• Be organised with effective time management skills
• Commercial aptitude and awareness is a must
• Knowledge of food packaging
• Energetic, self motivated, team player
• Salary negotiable depending on experience
